Dan Oppenheimer, Ph.D.

Vice President, Portfolio Strategy

Dr. Oppenheimer joined BioMarin in 2002 and currently serves as Vice President, Portfolio Strategy with responsibility for product strategy and portfolio planning. He previously served in several roles in Business Development and Product Development at BioMarin. Much of his focus has been on Kuvan for PKU, including its in-licensing, subsequent out-licensing of ex-US commercialization rights, and leading its core team from initiation of development through regulatory approval. Prior to joining BioMarin, Dr. Oppenheimer was a consultant at McKinsey and Company in San Francisco, advising biotechnology companies. Earlier in his career, he was an NSF/Sloan Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Evolution at the University of Chicago. Dr. Oppenheimer earned a Ph.D. in entomology from the University of California, Berkeley, a B.A. in molecular biology and biochemistry from Wesleyan University, and an M.B.A. at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
